A little Matalan a little floral

Clinical training isn’t all I thought it was going to be; a lot of the laboratory is automated which from a student’s point of view means training isn’t all that interesting. I’m a significant way through my portfolio thank god, which is the more interesting part of my training for me including case studies etc.

As a break from work (yuk) Saturday me and my boyfriend decided a shopping trip was in order, now I’ve been after some of these summer floral dresses for a number of weeks now. As a student money is always tight so this Lipsy dress that I’m currently in love with was out of the question.

So on the hunt for something a little cheaper, I decided to have a quick look in Matalan and was shocked at what i found. It a store I’ve always visit for basics such as vest, knickers etc but never been overly interest in their clothes till now. I found these two beautiful floral dresses at only £15 each (Matalan card holders only) and just had to have them both, as well as a beach bag for £8.

The only complaint I have really is the promdress style halter neck is a size 12 were as the fitted dress (pink belt) is a size 8 my normal size, now I hate trying on clothes in stores but recently its something I find I’m having to do more and more.the 1st dress (halter neck) looks significantly nicer on than on the hanger, i may do an outfit post on it soon.

Long time....a new direction

Well where to start with this update hmm might as well just confess now that I no longer have a life outside of uni.

In basic terms my life currently revolves around getting parts of my portfolio signed off, now this sounds easy enough but the standards are vague and I’ve currently done all the easy ones i.e. bench test such as IM or essays on Equal opportunities, now it evidence of how you contribute to the team etc hmmm.

Although I’m enjoying the lab it’s not 100% what I expected, the lab I’m being trained in is extremely automated which is great for day to day practice. However it leaves very little for us students to do, coupled with my desire to do medicine I’m not really stimulated by it at all. TBH I've been doing a case study which is about the only thing that’s motivated me to do any work in the last month.

Now onto the interesting part for the blog, a big passion in my life other than cars is fashion. Fashion is going to for part of this blog from now on, starting with my latest shopping trip.

2 hours in the metro 2 dresses + this little beauty

Biomed training + why no medicine

Ive been meaning to write up this post for over a month now but struggled to get up the courage. After a disasterous UKCAT (nose bleed in the middle of it) im off on placement playing to be a biomed for a year yey!!!! Actually really looking forward to it.

Im stil hoping to apply to medicine eventually but its all off for now L

This blog is kinda on hold till i figure out what to do with it. Tempted to go down the line of the medic’s and blog about clinical training as a biomed but doubt anyone would be interested.

1 month till application

With only a month to go until i send my application (& start final year ) i thought a quick update was in order apologies for this not flowing.

Dissertation currently consists of 20+ journal articles that i need to read, and a rough plan of what I intend doing.

UKCAT revision is going good hopefully should be hitting the 700+ bracket and getting a GEM offer......who am I kidding!

Durham open day for medicine is in a few weeks so ill no doubt be doing a blog about that just need to find out where I’m meant to be going 1st as although I’m from very near the medical school I actually have no idea where it is!

Work experience is finally 100% written up so I can read over it before any interview if I manage to get them.

That’s all for now

Good luck to everyone else who is also preparing their applications

Sun, sea and cocktails

Well where to start, ive been back from Egypt over a week now! First off what an amazing country even if it is 39 degrees at 10pm, for me holidays are just a chance to relax round the pool with a good book and cocktail so didnt do much of the scuba diving that egypt is so popular for. We went on a Submarine which was really a complicated glasss bottum boat, was worth the experiance with some of the pictures included below. We didnt make it to Cairo which was a bit disappointing as i fancied seeing the perimids, but from people we know that have been apparently Cairo is violent and dirty something which im trying to find out for sure as we aim to return in September.

Medicine wise im getting there slowly but surely with the personnal statement, one thing that concerns me is this new restructuring of the NHS is likely to come up if i manage to get to interview stage cross fingures and toes. However i havent got a clue what the intended benefits of it are nor can i see any possible problem with it!

Ive got another job interview this time for a home carer in a local town so hopefully that will increase the experiance i can write about a little bit. St John wise was at the minners gala and doing another catherdral duty soon.

Thats all for now as got Taekwondo soon tho no where near ready if i want to go for 2nd Dan in December.
